GDPR statement and Ballet Cymru Privacy Policy

A new Data Protection law is coming into force on the 25th May 2018. We want to make sure that you know what data we hold, and how we use it. Below you will find a statement about what we are doing to ensure that we comply with the new General Data Protection Regulations.

Ballet Cymru is the trading name for Gwent Ballet Theatre Limited, registered charity no. 1000855, company registered in England and Wales no. 02535169.

Data Collection for our mailing list

Previously you have voluntarily supplied us with your contact details in order to subscribe to our mailing list. The information you have supplied for this purpose is:

  • Email Address

Ballet Cymru does not collect any other personal data from subscribers to our mailing list.

We use MailChimp for managing our mailing lists. By consenting to sign up to the newsletter and submitting the form, you acknowledge that the information you provide will be transferred to MailChimp for processing, in accordance with MailChimp’s Privacy Policy and Terms.

Data collected on our web site


We collect non-personally identifiable data about users of our website using small files placed on your computer that are known as cookies. These cookies collect data about how you use and interact with the website – such as which pages are visited, and how long for.

Data Collection for other activities

Ballet Cymru may request personal data from individuals for other projects or activities. This includes, but is not limited to; our Friends Membership Scheme, Workshops, Training programmes, and Third Party Services. We give separate distinct (‘granular’) options to consent separately to different purposes and types of processing.


We request that anyone under the age of 18 obtains consent from their parent or guardian before providing personal information to Ballet Cymru. Users without this consent are not allowed to provide us with personal information.

Ballet Cymru makes sure that our processing complies with the data protection principles and have a Company Safeguarding policy in place to ensure all activities are compliant. Children have the same rights as adults over their personal data.

Purpose and Use

Ballet Cymru processes any information received for specific purposes, in the legitimate interest of itself and its clients. We will not share your data with third parties in any way and under any circumstances, unless with your consent or if required to do so by law.

Time Frame

Ballet Cymru endeavours to provide the most accurate information possible. Therefore, we seek to re-verify the accuracy of all of the information on an ongoing basis. We do this by emailing contacts on the details currently held. Data that is found to be inaccurate or out of date is removed from the database.

With respect to the information Ballet Cymru possesses about you, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, and restriction. You also have the right to object to processing.
