Touch Tour and audio described performances
For the first time ever, Ballet Cymru will offer two audio described performances for The Light Princess, the first one at our Newport performance on the 20th May, and the second one at The Torch Theatre in Milford Haven on the 21st June. We will also have a Touch Tour one hour prior to each performance. This will involve 4 – 5 dancers of the company on stage in costume, allowing Touch Tour participants to feel their muscles, movement, costumes. The set/staging will be felt and projections explained. Our audio describer, Alistair Sill, will be leading the Touch Tours with Outreach Officer Sian Rowlands and Assistant Artistic Director Amy Doughty in assistance. To book your place in Newport, click on the link.
People who book onto our Touch Tours will also be sent an audio brochure in advance (which will be recorded and translated into Welsh) including info about the company (our history), The Light Princess and the dancers. We will also have visual story hand outs and accessible brochures available for all performances.
We will be inviting feedback from people who accessed the Newport Touch Tour (almost like a focus group) in order to evaluate how useful the services were and what we can improve to ensure we offer the best possible experience.
We will be providing Welsh captioned translation through projection for the song in the ballet and are undertaking to eventually offer a British Sign Language interpretation as well.Back to News
