Duets – A National Dance Education and Training Programme

Ballet Cymru is delighted to announce that we have received funding from Paul Hamlyn Foundation and the Arts Council of Wales to roll-out Duets over 3 years across Wales
Ballet Cymru recognise that due to barriers and challenges, many talented children and young people have limited opportunities to access dance. Ballet Cymru is very excited to be working in partnership with well-established community dance organisations throughout Wales to provide Duets to help tackle this.
Duets is a unique, Wales wide dance training programme enabling young people to access high quality ballet tuition across the country regardless of economic, social or geographical circumstances. It is specifically designed to identify talent, provide progression pathways and improve aspiration for young people who would not usually have the opportunity to access and engage with dance, particularly those living in poverty in deprived areas of Wales.179_©Sian_Trenberth_Photography_DA18-15

Duets will work in partnership with 5 Community Dance Organisations:

Arts Care Gofal Celf (West Wales)
Dance i Bawb (North West Wales)
Impelo (Mid Wales)
Jukebox Collective (South Wales)
NEW Dance (North East Wales)

The 3-year Duets programme will include dance residencies, training days and Scholarship programmes with the partner community dance organisations throughout Wales. For more information on the history of Duets please visit our website at: www.duets2018.com

Ballet Cymru would like to thank Paul Hamlyn Foundation and the Arts Council of Wales for the financial support which will allow the Duets programme to develop on a national scale.
